About Us
Parents and Professionals
If you’re a parent or carer, teacher or wellbeing lead, GP or other health professional, this page will tell you more about how No Limits can support your young person.
Support is always free, with options available that don’t require an appointment or referral form. Young people can also get support for multiple issues from multiple No Limits services at the same time.
We can offer help in a variety of ways in person, as well as online or over the phone, being adaptable to the needs of the young person and what they feel comfortable with.
About No Limits
No Limits is an award-winning independent charity supporting children and young people under 26 in Southampton, Hampshire, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight with free information, advice, counselling and support on a wide range of issues including mental health and wellbeing, relationships, financial advice, housing and homelessness, substance use, employment, sexual health and parenting.
We are a YIAC (Youth Information, Advice and Counselling) service and a Youth Access member organisation. This service model ‘meets young people where they are’ and brings together youth information, advice on social welfare, emotional health and wellbeing, and counselling services with a range of positive activities and support from partner organisations.
Our confidentiality statement
No Limits is a confidential service. This means that, in general, we won’t tell anyone outside of No Limits what a young person has told us, unless they agree that we can.
However, sometimes we have a duty to tell someone what they’ve told us, if we need to protect them and/or other people from harm. This includes serious harm that could happen to them now, but could also include if someone has seriously hurt them or someone else in the past.
We will do our best to let them know if we have to share something they’ve told us.
More about No LimitsHow young people can get support from No Limits
There are a number of ways that young people are able to get support from No Limits, including drop-in services that don’t require an appointment and specialist support that is tailored to the young person’s individual needs.
Advice & Wellbeing Hub
Our Advice & Wellbeing Hub offers lots of ways to get instant support from No Limits, without having to refer or make an appointment. This support includes:
– Our Advice Centre on Southampton High Street – open over 40 hours each week
– Our Avenue Drop-in – a dedicated safe space for 11-17 year olds to get youth worker support
– School and college drop-ins – No Limits youth workers are in Southampton schools and colleges fortnightly
– Detached youth workers – a team of youth workers in Southampton city centre working with young people in locations they already access
– Self-help resources – online information from our youth workers on a wide range of topics
– Virtual services – get support over the phone or via webchat
Referral
Young people can also get support from No Limits by referring online. They can fill out a referral form themselves, through the ‘refer myself’ form, or they can be referred by someone else, through the ‘refer a young person’ form.
Some of our specialist services, like our therapeutic support, our groups and our Bright Beginnings support for young parents require a referral form. If you or the young person aren’t sure what support they need, you can still fill out a referral form and our triage team will help them to get the right support.
Once you’ve submitted a referral, you’ll get an email confirming that it’s been received with a copy of what you submitted. It may take us up to two weeks to get to your referral because of the large number that we receive.
Our services
There are some of our services which don’t require a referral, like our out-of-hours Safe Havens for young people experiencing a mental health crisis, and support on issues that our youth workers at our Advice Centre and Avenue drop-in can help with, like emotional wellbeing, employment, housing, or problems with school.
To see all our services and everything we can help you with, go to the ‘How can we help?’ section of our home page.
Our team deliver BUZZ sessions, which are lessons, assemblies and outreach sessions delivered at schools, youth clubs, community centres and other youth groups across Southampton to young people aged 14 to 15 years old.
Buzz sessions involve young people in discussions about the risks involved with drinking alcohol or using substances, in order to equip them with the information they need to make healthy choices. There is an emphasis on exploring ways they can enjoy themselves without substances, by participating in alternative activities.
To find out more and get BUZZ delivered in your school, email enquiries@nolimitshelp.org.uk.
We offer one-to-one counselling, support for students and staff at schools and colleges and training for voluntary organisations and groups, through our paid-for services. All services are delivered by our highly trained and experienced youth workers and counsellors and all profits raised go straight into the No Limits charity, helping to continue supporting children and young people.
If you’re a parent or carer of a young person aged 16-25 who needs mental health support, you can get support through Re:Minds. Re:Minds are part of the 6-25 Mental Health Transitions collective alongside No Limits, and are an organisation offering support to parents and carers. Either email kerstin@reminds.org.uk, or visit the Re:Minds website.
