Southampton young people enjoy outdoor adventure
6th September 2019
A group of five young people went sky high as part of a team building exercise at Go Ape last month.
The young people, who are supported by our COSMO group (Children of Substance Misusing Others), had a brilliant outdoor adventure with tree-high crossings, wobbly bridges and speedy zip wire rides.
The trip, which was funded by the Zurich Community Trust, was also an opportunity for the young people to build their confidence and strengthen friendships with like-minded young people.
Kate, a young person who attends No Limits’ COSMO group, said “I had an amazing day with the COSMO group and Zurich. Taking part in a new experience has helped my confidence to grow and I enjoyed making new friends.”
Zurich employees, who fundraised for the trip by taking on a sponsored 15K walk and by holding a cake sale in the Whiteley office, also supported the group by getting involved with the outdoor adventure.
Wendy Fearnley, executive secretary at Zurich, said “What a fantastic day all of us from Zurich had at Go Ape with a really special group of young people. We conquered our fears together and overcame obstacles none of us thought we would complete at the beginning – thanks to all of you from COSMO and No Limits for making it such a fun day.”
