✨We’re looking for a Business Development Lead to help grow No Limits’ paid-for service offer, with an initial focus on schools and colleges✨
Our Charity
No Limits is the leading youth services charity in Southampton, supporting children and young people in the city and across Hampshire.
At No Limits, it is important our staff and volunteers reflect, represent, and have experience of the challenges faced by the children and young people we support. We are proud of and appreciate our many staff and volunteers who use their own lived experience to support the children and young people they work with.
With this in mind, we are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in all aspects of our work and organisational culture – and when recruiting, it’s important to us that we continue diversifying our staff and volunteer teams, with children and young people at the centre of everything we do. You can learn more about our DEI approach here.
When we talk about talent, we value the transferrable skills and experiences you can bring to No Limits, whether through work (in the same or a different sector), volunteering, or personal experiences. To make sure we get the best talent on our team, we are open to and actively encourage applications from all backgrounds and sections of the community, including diverse ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and neurodiverse individuals.

Your Role
We are looking for a Business Development Lead to help grow No Limits’ paid-for service offer. This is a new role that will focus on building relationships, developing warm leads and supporting the growth of paid-for services that are realistic, sustainable and aligned with our mission, values and safeguarding responsibilities.
The role will initially focus on schools and colleges, helping them understand how No Limits can support children and young people through services such as counselling, mental health support, mentoring, wellbeing drop-ins, alternative provision and other relevant support. Over time, the role may also explore other routes where there is a clear fit with No Limits’ services and capacity, such as local partners, other charities, agencies or other paid-for service opportunities.
You will work closely with Fundraising and Development, service delivery, communications and senior leaders to understand our offer, identify opportunities, develop a clear pipeline and help turn interest into paid-for service relationships.
The role will be hybrid, with regular work from our Southampton Head Office and travel to meetings, schools, colleges and networks as needed.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Promoting No Limits’ paid-for service offer, initially with a focus on schools and colleges.
- Identifying and building relationships with key contacts, decision-makers and influencers in schools, colleges, education networks and other relevant settings.
- Developing warm leads and securing introductory conversations, meetings or invitations into relevant networks.
- Developing and maintaining a clear pipeline of opportunities, including contacts, actions, next steps and likely timescales.
- Working with No Limits colleagues to understand our paid-for service offer, capacity, pricing and delivery models.
- Helping turn leads into viable paid service contracts, proposals or partnership opportunities.
- Tracking business development activity and progress against agreed goals, including contacts made, meetings secured, leads generated, opportunities progressed and contracts secured.
- Making sure opportunities pursued are realistic, ethical, financially viable and aligned with No Limits’ mission, values and safeguarding responsibilities.
Please see the job description for further details about the responsibilities of the role.
We are committed to making a difference in the lives of the children and young people we work with, and as such, you must show a willingness to demonstrate commitment to the values and behaviours which flow from the No Limits ethos. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is paramount.
We particularly welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and those who have had experiences similar to the young people we aim to support. We are committed to creating a diverse environment where people can be their authentic selves, where their experiences and opinions are valued, and we are all open to learning from each other.
As part of our team, you’ll receive a comprehensive induction and access to learning and development opportunities relevant to your role, supporting your ongoing growth.
You’ll have the essentials of:
- Experience in business development, partnership development, traded services or a related role.
- Confidence building relationships with schools, colleges, education settings or other external partners.
- Ability to identify opportunities, develop leads and turn early conversations into realistic outcomes.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to represent No Limits positively and professionally.
- Good commercial awareness, including understanding service viability and return on investment.
- A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to manage a pipeline, track progress and work towards agreed goals.
You may also have:
- Existing contacts or networks within schools, colleges, local authorities, education partnerships or relevant professional groups.
- Experience working in or with education, children and young people’s services, health or the voluntary sector.
- Experience developing paid-for services, service proposals, tenders, presentations or business cases.
- Confidence presenting to groups, networks or external partners.
Please let us know if we can support you with any reasonable adjustments at any point prior to, during or after the selection process, such as access arrangements, flexible working, or a suitable place to pray.
