Jamie’s 100km walk, remembering his friend James

16th September 2025

On 5th July, Jamie walked 100km across London to remember his friend, James Scott, who passed away in a car accident on his way to work on that date in 2024.

Jamie raised money for two charities close to his heart – No Limits, as our DASH team supported his recovery from substance issues, and Brake, a road safety charity whose work includes supporting people bereaved and seriously injured by road crashes.

“I have always ingrained walking into my daily routine during recovery and following a TikTok I saw of a person doing 100,000 steps in a day, I was sold on the idea of a charity walk. This eventually metamorphosed into the final 100km distance for charity I carried out.”

Jamie’s walk started at 01:50am, choosing to set off from St James the Less church in Dorney, just west of Maidenhead, due to its namesake with his friend.

Despite a flat route, the walk was challenging, especially on the rocky paths on the Thames bend after Richmond. Spurred on by his commitment to James and being joined at the halfway point by his friend Ollie, Jamie completed the walk in just over 21 hours, being greeted by his partner, James’ parents and some of their friends at the finish in Greenwich, chosen due to its connection to time.

Jamie also wore the shirt of James’ football team, Manchester United, with ‘James 100’ printed on the back, for the last kilometre.

“The DASH team and Harriet in particular, have continually challenged, supported and picked me up over the last 18 months as I have navigated through the process and James’ death. Harriet was continually in contact with me, making sure I am coping okay as well as picking me up – so to speak – when I struggled. Throughout the process I’ve always been aware that I’m particularly privileged to have been able to access No Limits alongside private therapy, and as I have come up to being ‘aged out’ of DASH I wanted to give back to the charity so that people less fortunate than myself can still receive the support they need.

Alongside No Limits, I also raised money for Brake with the goal in my own words to raise money to both prevent accidents occurring in the future as well as support those left behind.”

We would like to say a massive thank you to Jamie for his amazing efforts, raising £1,710, smashing his original target of £500. The money will be split equally between No Limits and Brake.
