Bright Beginnings Mentor
Do you want to help support a young vulnerable parent?
Our Bright Beginnings service helps vulnerable young parents aged 17 to 25 to improve all aspects of their health and the health of their baby. This support is delivered by volunteer mentors who are matched with the young parents and become a trusted, reliable, knowledgeable adult in the young person’s life.
Volunteer mentors meet with their young parents regularly and support them with issues they are struggling with, particularly concerning their health, their child’s health, and their role as a parent. Our volunteer mentors support the young parent in navigating their way through processes, meetings and paperwork such as those relating to their child’s health, childcare and learning. They advise on the physical care for the child, help them to meet the child’s emotional health, helping to encourage a stable, stimulating environment. Volunteer mentors also encourage and support the young parent to engage with and use services for their own health needs.
