Virtual Cycle Raises Over £500 for Mental Health Groups
22nd May 2023
On Friday, a team of No Limits staff and volunteers cycled 116 miles (186km) for Mental Health Awareness Week, in just under seven hours of intense cycling, raising money for our mental health support groups.
The cycle took place in Westquay, with Decathlon supplying the bike and technology. Starting just before 10:30am, the 166 mile target – the distance and back between our three Safe Havens, in Newport (IOW), Southampton and Farnham – seemed a huge task, especially after the team fell below the required pace after a tiring few hours. But, the determined group (with a little help from Decathlon’s cyclists) got over the line in 6 hours and 44 minutes at 10 past 5 in the evening.
In total, just over £500 was raised, which will help out mental health support groups to put on great sessions and activities for the young people.
We’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated, Westquay for the space, the Decathlon Southampton team for the bike and helping us out with the cycling, and the amazing people that came down and helped us out:
- Our volunteers Elise and Wenhua
- Nichola from Capita
- Andrew from Southern Water
- Lloyd from the LEGO store
- Debbie from GO! Southampton
- Our Ambassador, Ellisha-Jade White and all the No Limits staff that came down and had a cycle.
