Summer Fun for Our Young Carers
3rd August 2023
Having already enjoyed the amazing Young Carers Festival at the end of June, our Young Carers have also had a summer camp and water activities to get involved with this July.
Sixth Form students from King Edward VI School took 16 primary Young Carers on a summer camp at Avon Tyrrell, from Sunday 9th – Wednesday 12th July. As well as activities at the camp, there were exciting trips out to Marwell Zoo, Paultons Park, Moors Valley Country Park and to the beach for fish and chips.
Grace, from our Young Carers team said “The sixth formers did an amazing job fundraising to make sure the trip was unforgettable! The young carers had a fantastic time with their sixth form buddies at camp and made memories that they will never forget.”
A massive thank you to the King Edward’s students for fundraising, organising and leading a brilliant summer camp.
Last week, 11 Primary Young Carers went kayaking and 14 Secondary Young Carers went paddleboarding. The activities took place at Woodmill Outdoor Activity Centre. They enjoyed playing games and having races, with nearly all of them staying dry until they jumped in for a swim!
Thank you to the Royal Southampton Yacht Club, Southampton City Council and HAF for providing our Young Carers with this amazing opportunity to gain new skills and to have lots of fun.
