Just 4U Independent Visitor Volunteers

If you have 3 or so hours to spare each month then here’s a great thing you could do with that time…

We currently have children and young people eagerly awaiting an Independent Visitor (IV). An Independent Visitor is a unique and special volunteering role. You get matched with a child or young person who is in care and meet up with them once a month for an average of 3 hours. The idea is that you build a trusting and long lasting relationship with the child/young person.

Some of these children have been moved around a lot in their life and they do not have a consistent adult around them. Could that be you?

Whether it’s picnics and walks on the beach, cinema and shopping, football and go karting or bowling and lunch, it’s great fun and time that is really appreciated by the child/young person.

We provide comprehensive training on how to be an Independent Visitor and ongoing training on a wide variety of issues facing children/young people. This training is delivered over two Saturdays and you would need to complete both days. We try to run this training quarterly, not only in Southampton but within Hampshire as we have children and young people who’d like an IV all over Hampshire, including the Isle of Wight.

We provide a budget to facilitate the visits and cover all travel costs. All we need is your time and enthusiasm. Being an Independent Visitor gives you the chance to make a real and positive difference to a child’s life.

If you live in Hampshire and you are interested in applying to be an Independent Visitor Volunteer, then please send us your completed application form and we’ll be in touch.

We welcome applications from all members of the community and value diversity in our team. We are especially interested in recruiting more men and members of BME communities.
