✨We’re looking for a Finance Manager to help ensure No Limits has strong, reliable and well managed finances that support our work with children and young people✨
Our Charity
No Limits is the leading youth services charity in Southampton, supporting children and young people in the city and across Hampshire.
At No Limits, it is important our staff and volunteers reflect, represent, and have experience of the challenges faced by the children and young people we support. We are proud of and appreciate our many staff and volunteers who use their own lived experience to support the children and young people they work with.
With this in mind, we are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in all aspects of our work and organisational culture – and when recruiting, it’s important to us that we continue diversifying our staff and volunteer teams, with children and young people at the centre of everything we do. You can learn more about our DEI approach here.
When we talk about talent, we value the transferrable skills and experiences you can bring to No Limits, whether through work (in the same or a different sector), volunteering, or personal experiences. To make sure we get the best talent on our team, we are open to and actively encourage applications from all backgrounds and sections of the community, including diverse ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and neurodiverse individuals.

Your Role
As Finance Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operational delivery of No Limits’ finance function. Reporting to our Director of Finance, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our financial processes, reporting and controls are accurate, timely and effective.
You will lead the preparation of management accounts, support budgeting and forecasting, and coordinate statutory financial reporting and audit activity. You’ll also support financial reporting to funders and grant providers, working closely with colleagues across the organisation to ensure requirements are met and resources are used well.
You’ll line manage our Finance & Payroll Officer and work closely with budget holders and managers, supporting good financial management, full cost recovery and clear financial insight that helps teams make informed decisions. This role is central to ensuring our finance systems and processes enable No Limits to deliver high-quality services to children and young people.
Flexibility
We’re open to candidates looking to work between 3 days per week (0.6 FTE) and full time (5 days). We take a flexible and trust-based approach to working, supporting good balance and integration with life outside work, including flexibility around hours and patterns such as school-time working.
For this role, we expect around half of your working time to be office-based. We trust our people to work in ways that support their role, their team, and the organisation. We’re happy to talk through what this could look like for you. In your application, please indicate the working pattern you’re looking for, or get in touch for an informal conversation before applying.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the day-to-day operational delivery of the finance function, ensuring accurate and well-controlled financial processes
- Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting analysis
- Supporting budget setting and forecasting, working with managers across the organisation
- Coordinating statutory accounts preparation and supporting the annual audit
- Supporting financial reporting to funders and grant providers
- Maintaining effective financial controls, policies and procedures
- Managing month-end processes including journals, accruals and reconciliations
- Supporting full cost recovery and monitoring of restricted and designated funds
- Overseeing payroll and pensions processes alongside the Finance & Payroll Officer
- Working closely with budget holders to provide clear, accessible financial information
- Supporting the effective use and ongoing improvement of finance systems and processes
We are committed to making a difference in the lives of the children and young people we work with, and as such, you must show a willingness to demonstrate commitment to the values and behaviours which flow from the No Limits ethos. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is paramount.
We particularly welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and those who have had experiences similar to the young people we aim to support. We are committed to creating a diverse environment where people can be their authentic selves, where their experiences and opinions are valued, and we are all open to learning from each other.
As part of our team, you’ll receive a comprehensive induction and access to learning and development opportunities relevant to your role, supporting your ongoing growth.
You’ll have the essentials of:
- Experience working in a finance role, with responsibility for accurate financial processing and reporting
- Confidence working with financial information, systems and spreadsheets
- Ability to manage your workload, meet deadlines and work independently
- Strong attention to detail and a clear, organised approach
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and work well with non-finance colleagues
- An interest in working within a values-led, mission-driven organisation
You may also have:
- A finance qualification or be working towards one
- Experience of charity or not-for-profit finance, including funder or grant reporting
- Experience supporting budgeting, management accounts or audit processes
- Experience supervising or supporting others
- Lived experience of one or more of the issues faced by the children and young people No Limits supports
Please let us know if we can support you with any reasonable adjustments at any point prior to, during or after the selection process, such as access arrangements, flexible working, or a suitable place to pray.
